Great time. Highly recommend as a way to see NYC like no other. All alone on a sailboat at night with the skyline in the background. Weather tried to hamper but we didn't let it. Appointment was at 7:00 pm for a three hour cruise. They called us at 6:00 to say they had checked the radar and that it would be raining at 7:00, would we like to push it out to 8:00 pm. We said no problem. Got there, it sprinkled, did the cruise, Tony and Kevin were great to sail with. What a beautiful night. Atlantic Yachting did everything we could have expected. It was a great experience. My sister-in-law and I purchased this as a birthday gift for my husband. After being in the crowds on the street and pretty much everywhere you go, its funny to think about a million people on Manhattan and just the five of us all alone out on the water looking back on it all. Very relaxing.

Did you know you can learn to sail right here in the city? Atlantic Yachting gives great lessons - and five minutes after you're off the boat, you're right back in the center of everything.
We took three courses through Atlantic Yachting: basic sailing, on a 24' boat; coastal cruising, on a gorgeous 42' Beneteau; and bareboating, which prepares you to charter your own boat somewhere gorgeous. (We're heading to the BVI!)
The instructors are fantastic - extremely knowledgeable and very personable as well. You will feel very comfortable whether you have experience sailing, like my husband, or are a novice like me. Lessons are done in small groups, so everyone gets a turn at the tiller, but you'll also get some time to enjoy the sun and the wind on your face.
You can also take private lessons, which are expensive but worth every penny. The instructors go out of their way to make sure you get the most benefit from your time on the boat. I recommend you discuss sailing conditions with your instructor when you book a private lesson; they know when the wind will be best, and can help you schedule your boat time to maximize your chances of good wind.
I am particularly impressed with the customer service. The American Sailing Association lost our membership records, and we were afraid we would have to take all our classes again in order to re-certify. Atlantic Yachting worked with us to get our certifications re-issued in the minimum possible time, and even waived the testing fees. I could not have asked for a better resolution.
In short: if you live in the city and you're considering learning to sail, you can't do better than Atlantic Yachting.

Our experience with Atlantic Yatching could not have been more perfect. The crew made sure from the moment we stepped on the boat until we pulled back into the dock that the trip was relaxing and enjoyable. We did the sail for our 5 year wedding anniversary so I brought a playlist of our favorite songs and their sound system is so great! There is no better way to see the NYC skyline. HIGHLY recommend.

I took their Basic Sailing course over one weekend last summer with a friend and it was great! My instructor (Jonathan, I think) was very thorough and very cool and laid back in just the right way. He clearly knew what he was doing sailing-wise and made the class really fun and entertaining. I just signed up for another course (coastal) for this summer and it reminded me about what an awesome experience we had last summer. The only downside is that they don't rent their boats out without one of their staff on board, but that seems to be the case in this area. Overall, I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking to learn to sail. A great way to spend the weekend and a great company to do it with!

I splurged for my birthday last year and booked a private sailboat charter with some friends and I am so glad I did. It was so much fun! They let you bring whatever you want on your sail instead of make you eat their stuff (usually not the best) so we brought bread and cheese and snacks and stuff to make martinis yacht style and we had such a blast. We got to the Statue of Liberty just at sunset (amazing!) and sailed back as it was getting dark. Very, very cool to see New York from this perspective. In terms of the company - excellent service, super nice and helpful and cool when we wanted to listen to Sinatra sing NY, NY when we got to lady liberty - cheesy I know but I blame the martinis! These guys do a great job. Only negative was that we wanted to keep sailing but they had another sail booked after us so we had to go back. They just emailed me a sweet discount code for being a loyal customer (not sure how one time makes me loyal but I will take it!) so I am going to go again for my birthday this year. But this time I will book for a longer trip!

The views of the city were spectacular, the crew was knowledgeable and charming, the boat was luxurious, and the reservation process painless!
What I loved most was sitting on the front of the boat, drinks in hand, taking in the calm breeze on the Hudson. It was one of the best escapes I've ever had.

Sent my son and daughter last summer. They had a blast and learned a ton. They ended up staying for an additional session and became quite good little sailors. Some friends and I celebrated my boyfriend's 30th birthday by suprising him with a sailing trip around NYC. Our private charter aboard the Go Lightly was for 2 hours, but next time we'll arrange for a 3-hour charter, since the experience was that great! Tonia and her crew were first rate and were very friendly. They provided us with wine glasses and even served the food that we had brought with us. I was even able to plug in my iPod so we could listen to our own music. We all had a great time and I would definitely use Atlantic Yachting again, whether to celebrate a special event or to just have a few peaceful hours. Highly recommend!

I have some experience sailing and this is one of the most professional and passionate sailing education groups I've come across. The boat was spotless and the lesson I received was everything I hoped it would be. I have taken lessons other places, and I found myself in a crowded boat with instructors who seemed detached and bored. Atlantic Yachting is different. The experience of the staff is outstanding, their passion for sailing is infectious and the amount you will learn in just one afternoon is impressive. I highly recommend them as the best value for sailing in the NY Metro area.
